Powder Room Renovation

Complete Traditional, Coastal, Farmhouse Update for under $500!

When we moved in, there were a million things that we immediately wanted to do with the house. However, one of the main things that we NEEDED to do was the Powder Room. We quickly realized that there was a strong grin order coming from the toilet. My wife, being a home inspector, was able to see that there was an old leak (that had since been fixed) but had clearly left behind some staining under the toilet in the bathroom.

That being said, the first thing we did was replace the toilet. Thankfully once the old toilet was removed, the odor went with it.

There was a bit of a pause in progress from that point because of everything else that needed attention around the house. Slowly but surely we chipped away at it.

Above you can see the bathroom in its original state.

Next was paint! Like the rest of the house, we used Pale Oak by Benjamin Moore as our paint color. It was important to me that the house have a feel of consistency, flow and togetherness.

After paint, we replaced the vanity. As you can see above, it was extremely outdated. We selected this vanity from The Home Depot.

We also update the faucet. Please find the link for this exact one here.

As for the cabinet, we decided to keep it and use chalk paint to refinish it. I used a pure, white base, chalk paint with no tint to it. I ended up needing to do about 4 coats before I was able to seal it with Minwax Satin Polyurethane. The only other thing we changed about the cabinet was the hardware.

Below you can see the final outcome! Decor and accents were all purchased at HomeGoods- duh.

The only other update we plan to make at some point is the floors. They are an outdated white and gray tile. However, they are neutral enough to live with for now. I'm going to paint the grout white for now (I'll be sure to make a post on that once it's finished.)
